Ultraflux MiniSonic-P Handheld ultrasonic flow meter

The MiniSonic P handheld ultrasonic flow meter measures the velocity of a fluid with ultrasound to calculate average velocity in a pipe. This is done by averaging the difference in measured transit time between the pulses of ultrasound traveling with and against the direction of the flow.

Clamp on probes eliminate the need to stop the flow or modify pipe work in anyway. This saves down time and construction costs. The MiniSonic P is a proven handheld ultrasonic flow meter from Ultraflux, who have over 40 years of experience in ultrasonic flow measurement.

Features and benefits

Suitable for liquids, this handheld ultrasonic flow meter can be used for a wide range of applications.  It is perfect for operational diagnosis or monitoring in most process plants and pipe distribution networks.

 

Ability to measure most pipe diameters. This handheld ultrasonic flow meter has probes to measure from 10mm OD to 3,300mm OD. The clamp-on probes are suitable for all metallic and plastic pipes and multi-layered pipes. Not all asbestos pipes are suitable for clamp-on probes and insertion probes may be used in more difficult applications (concrete and corroding pipes).

 

Unrivalled accuracy and versatility with performance accuracy up to 0.5%, measurement resolution less than 0.1 nano second and suitable flow range from 1 mm per second to 45 metres per second.

 

Long battery life with up to 35 hours continuous use and the ability to delay the start time. With an auxiliary power supply cable in the accessories list this handheld ultrasonic flow meter can be used for longer monitoring where either power or solar power is accessible.

 

Dual chord input enables this converter to receive signals simultaneously from two sets of probes either on the same pipe or different pipes. This may be necessary when there is a pipe with a low flow bi-pass and data from both pipes is required.  It is also useful when there is a challenging application requiring 4 sensors on the same pipe to obtain an accurate result. The ability to monitor two separate pipelines simultaneously with one handheld ultrasonic flow meter is extremely convenient with cost and setup time efficiencies.

 

Quick and easy installation in under 5 minutes. The pipe wall thickness, connection of transducers to the transmitter, entering the parameters into the convertor and mounting of the transducers can be carried out in under 5 minutes.

 

Signal quality indicator displayed as a percentage assists the operator to identify any distortions caused by electrical noise or air bubbles.

 

Ergonomic design with a high ingress protection rating (IP67), light weight (850g), a keypad and a backlit LCD display, this portable flow meter is well designed for field use. Being so light, this flow meter will float on water!

 

Connectivity with the ability to accept 2 current inputs (4-20mA) and generate 2 current or digital outputs. This portable ultrasonic clamp on flow meter is designed to interface with GSM data loggers, telemetry and building management systems.

Limitations

  • Media that has heavy, solid content or has high aeration content.
  • Pipes that are partially full  and flexible hose/pipe
  • Pipes containing gases.
